For those that love to leaf-peep, check out a few drives that promise to bring some fall beauty to your day:
Lexington, MA to Concord, MA - it may be a short 15 minute trip from one town to the other but the best part is, it's close to Boston. Plus, if you're a history-fanatic, it provides great opportunities to stop along the way. Start on Massachusetts Avenue in Lexington and continue on to Route 2A towards Concord (the small parking lot on the right is where Paul Revere was arrested by British officers during his heralded midnight ride). Back on 2A, take a right onto Lexington Road (you will see Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House, where she wrote Little Women). Continue on until you hit charming Concord Center.
Keene, NH round-trip - This 80 mile loop of the Monadnock Region promises beautiful foliage as well as historic towns along the way, should you wish to stop. Drive Route 101 to Marlborough, NH and then head south on Route 124. Be sure to stop at Monadnock State Park, which features over 4,000 miles of hiking trails and breathtaking views of Mount Monadnock.
Conway, NH to Lincoln, NH - Otherwise known as the Kancamagus Highway, this 35 mile section of Route 112 will shine this autumn. Unlike other routes, this two-lane road doesn't feature quaint shops or mom-and-pop restaurants - only eye-popping color as the only pull-offs will look out over waterfalls, mountains and national forest.
