Where Luxury Meets Sustainability
Named one of the greenest hotels in North America, Seaport operates the groundbreaking environmental program Seaport Saves, dedicated to sustainability and conservation. Our focus on amenities such as the Blue Bikes bike-sharing system and on-campus access to the MBTA train and bus system allows guests to live in balance with the natural world and to practice an environmentally sensitive lifestyle.
Seaport was presented with a 2021 Stella Award for "Best Green Hotel - Northeast" and the Green Key Global 4 Green Keys rating. Upon opening in 1998, Seaport was one of the first hotels in the country to offer a smoke-free environment. We were the first hotel in Boston to provide in-room recycling and the first to use a composting system. Our hotel utilizes an energy-smart roofing system, designed with plants to reduce atmospheric heat and conserve energy. This commitment to reducing organic waste also includes eco-friendly events and meetings.
In Balance with Nature
Spanning over two acres of parks along the Harborwalk, the Seaport Place campus is the backyard for the one million bees who call this lace home. We house the bees in hives on our rooftop, harvesting natural honey for our restaurants, cafes, and bars. Our organic garden on the Plaza level grows herbs which are used in our restaurants.
Seaport Saves
Seaport Hotel is helping to build a better world and community with eco-friendly practices, sustainability initiatives, recycling, and energy conservation. Through our award-winning, eco-friendly program Seaport Saves, we're working to help preserve the environment while welcoming travelers from around the globe.
Drive Green, Peddle Green
The Seaport Garage features 24 complimentary electric vehicle charging stations. Guests who arrive with hybrid or electric cars can pull up and receive a night of complimentary valet parking. When it comes to reducing our carbon footprint, Seaport Hotel also offers complimentary bicycles to tour the city green-style. Pick up one of our bike maps and set out on a tour of Boston's beautiful neighborhoods and parks.
In-Room Conservation Efforts
From energy-efficient LED lighting to convenient in-room recycling bins, Seaport Hotel makes it easy for guests to participate in our conservation efforts throughout their stay. By taking advantage of the option to reuse towels and bed linens instead of having them changed daily, our guests have helped Seaport save an estimated 2.3 million gallons of water since 2006.
Green Transportation
Aside from electric vehicle charging stations and complimentary bicycle rentals, we also offer an onsite Silver Line station, part of Boston's MBTA public transportation system, and encourage our team members to take advantage of this system and other alternative methods of transportation.
Green Cleaning
Seaport implements eco-friendly cleaning practices that prioritize the well-being of both our guests and employees, utilizing eraDOCator-60, an eco-friendly microbial disinfectant that is EPA, FDA and CDC approved. Additionally our dry cleaner provides environmentally-friendly dry-cleaning, using eco-friendly alternatives to solvents such as perchloroethylene (known as perc). We also use non-toxic products for carpet and spot cleaning throughout the hotel.
Meeting Green
Seaport Hotel takes pride in hosting green and eco-friendly meetings and events, providing a sustainable and environmentally conscious experience for clients. From the planning stage to execution, every aspect is carefully designed to minimize the environmental impact. Our venue offers recycling bins, encourages the use of recycled and biodegradable materials, and utilizes LED lighting. Additionally, our menus emphasize locally sourced, organic, and seasonal ingredients, reducing carbon emissions associated with long-distance transportation.
