Summer in Boston

Experience an Unforgettable Summer in Boston

This summer, Boston transforms into a global stage, bringing together three once-in-a-generation celebrations: the return of Sail Boston, the excitement of the international soccer tournament, and the nationwide commemoration of America's 250th anniversary. From the waterfront to world-class stadiums to historic streets, the city will be alive with energy, culture, and unforgettable moments.

Sail Boston 2026: A Spectacle on the Harbor

From July 11-16, 2026, the world's most majestic tall ships return to Boston Harbor as part of Sail250®, honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. Dozens of international vessels will arrive in formation during the Grand Parade of Sail on July 11 — an all-day waterfront celebration stretching from Castle Island to Charlestown. Visitors can tour ships, meet international crews, enjoy family-friendly maritime programming, and take in stunning views all week long. Two sets of fireworks will take place during the celebration, one Saturday, July 11th at 9:15 pm and one Wednesday, July 15th at 9:15 pm.  Whether watching from the Harborwalk or boarding a ship up close, Sail Boston offers an immersive experience that highlights the city's seafaring heritage and global connections. Seaport Hotel is an Official Host Hotel of Sail Boston 2026, and we look forward to welcoming the Captain of the Esmeralda from Chile.

International Soccer Tournament: The World Arrives in Boston

For the first time in more than 30 years, the international soccer tournament returns to New England — and Boston will host seven matches at Gillette Stadium (renamed Boston Stadium) between June 13 and July 9, 2026. Fans can witness powerhouse nations including England, France, Morocco, Scotland, and Ghana take the pitch, along with knockout-round action that could shape the outcome of the entire tournament.

Beyond the stadium, the city will come alive for 40 days of celebrations, including a fan festival at City Hall Plaza — transforming Boston into a vibrant hub for global culture, food, music, and sport.

America 250: Celebrating a Milestone in the City Where it All Began

In 2026, the nation commemorates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence — and there's no better place to experience it than Boston, the birthplace of the American Revolution. Massachusetts' anniversary programming includes historic reenactments, special exhibitions, signature concerts, and community celebrations across the state.

Highlights include:

  • Boston Harborfest (July 1-4), featuring the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular — the official MA250 signature celebration — lighting up the Charles River Esplanade.
  • Sail250 return in July, uniting the tall ships celebration with the broader America250 festivities.
  • Citywide historical programming, from reenactments to museum expansions, offering new ways to experience Boston's revolutionary past.

In a span of just six weeks, Boston will host an extraordinary convergence of world-class events: a major international sports tournament, a maritime festival of global scale, and a historic national anniversary. This summer will be one of the most vibrant in the city's history.
