When You Visit Boston This Winter, Get Outdoors!

They say a bad day on the slopes beats a good day at work, so with this in mind, allow us to suggest a few places to ski when you visit! Yes, believe it or not, there are plenty of mountains within a short car ride from Boston. It's always best to check out the individual websites for condition updates, hours of operation and their COVID-19 response plans.

Closest to the city, Blue Hills Ski Area is less than a half-hour drive from the city's center. Its elevation of 635 feet offers 25-mile views with 16 trails and 4 lifts, as well as a small terrain park and night skiing.

Situated just over 30 miles outside of Boston, Nashoba Valley in Westford, MA is less than an hour from the city. With 100% of their 17 trails covered by snowmaking, plus the largest snow tubing park in New England, it's an ideal winter family destination, offering something for everyone.

North of Boston in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Bradford Ski Area is ideal for beginner skiers, with 15 trails and 9 active lifts. Thrill seekers may enjoy the state-of-the-art terrain park with jumps, rails and boxes.

Just over an hour outside of Boston, is Wachusett Mountain in Princeton, Massachusetts. It offers the most terrain in the area with a 1000 foot vertical drop, 29 trails and 8 lifts, 100 % snowmaking and night skiing. It also features two terrain parks with a jump line, rails, boxes, a wallride, rollers and jumps.

More winter fun is even closer to Seaport. Just steps from our door, Snowport offers winter fun for all members of the family including Winter Wonder Walks, shopping, outdoor games and be sure to keep an eye out for Betty the Yeti. A bit further down the road, kids of all ages will love the Greenway Carousel, which operates throughout the winter, featuring hand-carved characters inspired by land, air and sea animals of Boston Harbor and the imaginations of children.

If you're up for a bit of a ride, consider visiting one of the many working farms that are an hour or two outside of Boston.  Visit with the animals, enjoy a good bonfire, take a sleigh ride or get in a hike or even some cross-country skiing.  The Boston Globe recently wrote a piece about six farms just outside of the city and beyond that offer tons of winter fun!
