Things to Do in Boston - Charles Playhouse - Blue Man Group & Shear Madness

Originally built as a church in 1839, the legendary Charles Playhouse was also a Prohibition-era speakeasy, a famous jazz club, and a Rio-themed lounge. Today, the historic venue is now a shrine to entertainment and performance – and it hosts some of the hottest tickets in town. The theater was fully renovated in 2014, and now features a fresh new look and feel. The building's great legacy makes it a captivating place to experience a show, and its Greek-revival architecture provides an impressive appearance. This summer, you can see two very different performances in this legendary space:

Blue Man Group – Percussive music, comedy, and multimedia theatrics combine to create a totally one-of-a-kind experience. This buzzed-about show is one of the most popular things to do in Boston.

Shear Madness – Set in a hairstyling salon, this hilarious "whodunit" that features a unique blend of mystery and madcap comedy. Can the audience figure out who the murderer is? With improv acting and spontaneous script changes, the answer is different every time.
