"Prepare for epicness" - that's the motto of the 2016 Extreme Beer Fest. Sponsored by BeerAdvocate, the festival is no doubt the place to be for connoisseurs of fine craft brews. Friday-Saturday, Feb. 5-6, Boston's Seaport World Trade Center welcomes those 21+ (no exceptions) to enjoy more than 250 beers from over 70 brewers. They come from all over the USA and Canada and include Against the Grain from Louisville, KY; Beau's All Natural from Vankleek Hill, ON; Almanac Beer from San Francisco; and Barreled Souls from Saco, ME. You'll come across stouts, ales, porters, barley wine and more. The brewery staff members will be more than happy to discuss their craft and innovations.
Tickets cost $57.50 plus convenience fees on Eventbrite, and include all beer tastings, which are 2 ounces or less in compliance with Massachusetts law. Since no designated driver tickets will be sold, BeerAdvocate recommends taking public transportation. Be sure to pace yourself, and drink to experience the flavors and creativity of the brews. If you have any allergies, ask about what goes into the beer before sipping. Food will be sold separately - bring some cash in case the vendors don't accept credit cards. Some vendors might sell water and soft drinks, and there will also be some water coolers around the venue. There are 3 sessions over the 2-day festival: Session 1 is Feb. 5, 6-9:30PM, Session 2 is Feb. 6, 1-4:30PM, and Session 3 is Feb. 6, 6-9:30PM.
