The Seaport's Guide to Being Festive and Fit

All our thoughts this holiday season are on the yummy treats that seem to pop up with every meal. It's hard to go anywhere without being tempted with a gingerbread man, scrumptious slice of pie, or even a delectable multi-course meal. Live and let live, but we also wouldn't mind getting a head start on those pesky new year's resolutions. We have plenty of fun ways to get in a quick workout around the neighborhood to rejuvenate following a hectic round of shopping. Herewith, a few of our favorite fit options:

  1. CorePower Yoga (20 Bond Drive, Boston): Not all yoga is created equally, and the exhausted – albeit invigorated – faces walking out of CorePower Yoga on Fan Pier are a testament to that! The workouts combine all your favorite poses with cardio and strength training, leaving you feeling refreshed and toned at the same time. Gwyneth Paltrow was even seen taking a class at the company's South End location!

  2.  Equinox (27 Northern Ave., Boston): Equinox opened its fifth Greater Boston location last year, and it has given Seaporters a workout with a view. Located at Seaport Square near the Courthouse MBTA Silver Line station, the gym studio looks out on the downtown skyline. Featuring a spa and an extensive list of group fitness classes, Equinox is just as much an experience as it is a grueling workout.

  3. Harborwalk: Boston's favorite waterfront trail is still popular in cold months. Grab a coffee and stroll along this popular path (it even winds around our own World Trade Center) or lace up and go on a morning run. Be sure to check out the new installations at Seaport Green and Fan Pier, great spots for photos of downtown and Boston Harbor!

  4. Wave Health & Fitness (Plaza Level): There's no need to leave the hotel when you're looking to get fit or even a spa treatment. Our own Wave Health & Fitness is a state-of-the-art fitness facility with all your strength and cardio needs as well as group fitness classes and massages. You can even sign up for a one-on-one session with one of our talented trainers and preemptively burn off all that festive food waiting at home.
