We here at Seaport are always looking for an excuse to party, and Cinco de Mayo gives us the perfect opportunity. It’s time to let our hair down and salute some of our favorite tequila watering holes and taquerias in Boston. Whether you’re looking for something nearby or a bit of a dungeon vibe to go with your agave, we have the perfect spot to take a shot. Herewith, our favorite haunts for some great Mexican fare:
- Lolita Cocina and Tequila Bar (271 Dartmouth St., Boston): Head to Back Bay for this trendy, gothic lair for a Cinco de Mayo menu of lobster and fried shrimp tacos as well as special chili con queso offerings. Over 50 tequilas on the Lolita lineup ensure that you’ll have a fabulous cocktail (the spicy cucumber is a must!). While the dark walls and low-hanging chandeliers may look like the makings of a Dracula movie, the only thing that will bite you here tonight is your tequila shooter.
- Loco Taqueria and Oyster Bar (412 West Broadway, South Boston): While the Irish enclave of South Boston may not seem like the place to look for one of Boston’s hottest taquerias, it is the place for Cinco de Mayo. Doors open at 10AM for guests to enjoy tequila snow cones and “BOMB pork tacos” as well as a piñata giveaway at the end of the night. Here’s hoping for some luck of the Irish that you win!
- Rosa Mexicano (155 Seaport Blvd., Boston): It’s a fiesta every day at our favorite Mexican spot next door! Cinco de Mayo is sure to be a blast for you and your taste buds with a special $30 three-course feast! Be sure to stop in to try the pomegranate margaritas and guacamole.
- Tico (222 Berkeley St., Boston): What’s better than free?! Stop in today between 4:30PM-5:30PM for FREE tacos at Chef Michael Schlow’s Back Bay hotspot. Plus, there will be a 3-for-$25 special on blood orange, hot and skinny, and traditional margaritas! A DJ will start spinning accompanying beats at 5:30PM until close. ¡Olé!
For those of you looking to stay a bit closer to your hotel home, our own TAMO boasts delicious nachos and tacos from the “Food Truck Nation” portion of our menu. Be sure to try our new Thai Bird Chili Margarita—it packs quite the Cinco de Mayo punch!
